A bicyclist, described as a young white male, ran from the scene of a 3:05 p.m. crash Tuesday after slamming into the side of a sport utility vehicle.
Steven R. Danner, 66, of West Liberty, reported to officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department he was northbound on Stanley Street at Court Avenue when the westbound bicyclist ignored a stop sign and hit the right side of the SUV. He was flung up onto the hood and his shoulder hit and shattered the windshield.
Danner got out of his SUV and checked on the bicyclist. He told the bicyclist he called for police, which led the suspect to flee.
Damage was moderate to the SUV.
