Two Bellefontaine High School seniors recently have advanced to the National Educators Rising contest this summer following their performances at the recent Educators Rising State Conference.
BHS student Madison Taylor prepared and delivered a lesson to middle school orchestra students. Fellow student Leeah Kuhn prepared and presented a lesson to high school AP History students. Both then completed a reflection and defense of that lesson for judges.
Madison placed fourth in the state in Arts Lesson Planning and Delivery and Leeah placed fourth in the state in Humanities Lesson Planning and Delivery.
Both are now eligible to compete at the national contest to be conducted virtually July 24.
Educators Rising is focused on encouraging high school students to embrace the call of teaching as profession, provide for them the opportunity to experience teaching as a high school student and to serve as a student leader and advocate for education.
Bellefontaine High School’s chapter is advised by Kristy Mount.
Madison plans to attend Ohio Northern University in the fall to study music education. Leeah plans to attend Temple University to study secondary social studies education.
