Bellefontaine’s cheerleading competition squad won its third consecutive Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail championship on Saturday at Benjamin Logan High School.
Northwestern was the overall champion and the Mad River champion with 184.7 points. Bellefontaine was second overall and first in the Kenton Trail with 184.3 points., Jonathan Alder was third overall and second in the KT with 179.4 points and Benjamin Logan was fourth overall and second in the Mad River division with 160.65 points.
Team members for the Chieftains are Riley Myers, Torrie Breaston, Mia McDonald, Ellise St. Clair, MacKenzie Southard, Arianna Evans, Brianna Burkhammer, Lauren Carter and Lauren Easton.
Carter also earned an individual honor by winning the tuck-off competition.
Several area cheerleaders received all-league honors.
Earning Kenton Trail division first-team honors were Bellefontaine’s Carter and Easton. First-team selections in the Mad River division went to Ben Logan’s Ella Studebaker and Jayden Kossel and Indian Lake’s Haley Westberry.
Landing spots on the Kenton Trail second team were the Chiefs’ Torrie Breaston and MacKenzie Southard, while Mad River division second-team spots went to the Raiders’ Raistlyn LeVan and Elaine McWade and the Lakers’ Alyssa Bush and Raelyn Parsell.
Special mention honors in the Kenton Trail division went to Bellefontaine’s Bri Burkhammer and Ellise St. Clair. Earning special mention in the Mad River division were Ben Logan’s Grace Grant and Kamryn Stanfield and Indian Lake’s Tori Hurley and Regan Ross.
Local cheerleaders receiving the sportsmanship award were the Chiefs’ Mia McDonald, the Raiders’ Reise Anderson and the Lakers’ Hailey Even.
