Bellefontaine Elementary School students learned about healthy lifestyle choices Friday with a help from a number of visiting organizations and community leaders at the school’s annual health fair.
The activities featured seven stations at each grade level for the kindergarten through second-graders.
Bellefontaine Mayor Ben Stahler showed how to properly handle a service dog in training.
Local police officers discussed various ways to stay safe and students also learned many exercises to stay fit.
BCS Food Service Director Winnie Jacks explained healthy eating options.
The OSU Extension Office showcased their “blender bike.” Students rode the bike to generate enough energy to make smoothies on a blender powered by the bike.
BHS DARE Club members performed a puppet show.
The health fair is coordinated by kindergarten teachers Lauren Burkhardt and Carol Fultz.
“The purpose of the health fair is to educate students on ways to live a healthy life, physically and mentally,” Burkhardt said.
Last year, there was no health fair because of COVID.
A total of 34 volunteers helped at this year’s event. The agencies and businesses at the health fair included: BCS Food Service, BES Guidance Department, BHS DARE Club, Anytime Fitness, Gloria’s Tumbling, BarBelle, Dance Fuzion, Bellefontaine Fire & EMS, Bellefontaine Police Department, Marysville Police Department, Mary Rutan Hospital, Awaken Your Soul Yoga, Logan County Farmers Market, Ohio Fitness & Martial Arts, Logan County Electric Cooperative and OSU Extension serving Logan County 4-H.
