Bellefontaine Elementary School recently hosted a Chieftain Leader ceremony to honor students in grades K-2 for following the B-Block pledge every day — “be kind, be a leader, and be responsible for myself.” Longtime Bellefontaine firefighter Ben Kennedy presented each recipient with their award. Recipients included: kindergartners Paisleigh Basso, Annistynn Taylor, Jameson Jarrell, Bryor Trout, Yohan Ygnacio, Charlotte Burkhardt, Dexter McAleer , and Aurora Lewis; first-graders Jace Guthrie, Kierre Shazier, Brileigh Downing, Jenna Brueshaber, Zaine Roberts, Skylar Varner, Brennan Evans and Kinlee Yelton; and second-graders Hayden Cox, Tamlyn Price, Carlota Moran, Baiden Godwin, Ariel Welch, Melany Simpson, Destin Clary and Aliza Longbrake. Each student rang a bell after receiving their award.The ceremony is conducted after each nine-week grading period.“Our Chieftain Leaders are students who do the right thing, even when no one is watching,” Principal Pat Martz said.
