A local economic development leader on Tuesday urged members of the Bellefontaine City Council to favorably consider the Allen Woods condominium development proposal.
Logan County Chamber of Commerce CEO and Executive President Paul Benedetti said Bellefontaine has “a chronic shortage of housing options in the $175,000 $200,000 range.
“This community really hasn’t grown. When I came here 46 years ago, the population of Bellefontaine was 13,000. It’s still 13,000,” he said.
Restaurant chains are wanting to see a population of 17,000 to 20,000 before committing to a project in the community.
It is hard to attract and keep workers in the area without good housing stock, he said.
