For the first time in nearly 11 months, a high school baseball game was played at Blue Jacket Park in Bellefontaine on Monday.
With the spring season and the summer Acme campaign canceled because of the coronavirus, baseball had been put on hold this year.
However, a local summer league was created and the Bellefontaine Easton Water team kicked off its season Monday with a 6-0 shutout victory over visiting Olentangy Orange.
Bellefontaine jumped out with two runs in the opening inning and added three more in the second frame for an early 5-0 cushion.
Bellefontaine added another run in the fifth.
Brett Belser and Jarrid Baughman combined for the shutout on the mound. They combined to allow just four hits.
Offensively, Belser went 2-4 with two RBI and Cole Comstock, Ethan Moore and Anthony Snapp each had an RBI for Bellefontaine.
Bellefontaine returns to action today at Piqua.
