Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department conduct another medication take back event from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at Mary Rutan Hospital, 205 Palmer Road, in partnership with Logan County CORE, Mary Rutan Hospital and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
The event gives the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
Participants may bring pills for disposal to the canopy entrance of Mary Rutan Hospital. The site cannot accept liquids.
Needles/sharps, pills and patches will be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, and no questions are asked.
Last fall Americans turned in nearly 469 tons of prescription drugs at nearly 6,300 sites operated by the DEA and almost 5,000 of its state and local law enforcement partners.
In previous Take Back events, the DEA and its partners have taken in more than 11.8 million pounds — approximately 5,900 tons — of pills.
