Members of the Bellefontaine City Schools Orchestra performed with a famous composer and musician during a sold-out show Tuesday night.
High school and middle school students took the Bellefontaine High School auditorium stage with Mark Wood, who’s been electrifying the orchestra industry for four decades.
He played with BCS students four years ago, and his initial concert with Bellefontaine students was in 2001.
Wood is a recording artist, performer, producer, inventor, Emmy Award-winning composer, and Juilliard trained music advocate. He rose to fame as string master and original member of the internationally acclaimed Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
His true passion is music education, and he visits nearly 60 schools per year nationwide. His program Electrify Your Symphony is an intensive rock and roll workshop for music education departments.
Wood met with BCS students via Zoom last month.
He rehearsed in person with middle school students Monday morning and high school students Monday afternoon, and lead additional orchestra workshops Tuesday.
The BCS Orchestra is led by longtime teacher Laura Mitchell.
