Gage L. Rollins, 19, of 909 N. Main St., was charged May 5 with criminal damaging, assault and unlawful restraint.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to the residence around 1:20 p.m. after a motorist observed Rollins strike Aryn Angel, of 412 N. Main St., in the face during an argument outside.
The motorist stopped and provided Angel ride to her mother’s workplace.
As officers were talking with Rollins, Angel arrived at the police department offices. She was distraught and redness on the left side of her face.
She reported she was visiting and Rollins became upset when she decided to return to her home. When she tried to call her mother, Rollins grabbed the cellular phone and threw it down, cracking the screen. She was able to gather her infant son in a car seat and exited the residence.
Gage followed and grabbed onto the seat to stop her. She spun away with the seat. Rollins lost his grip and slapped her in the face.
Officers were able to view surveillance video from the home that corroborated the victim’s account.
