Nicholas Childs of Bellefontaine was one of 11 students who participated in Baldwin Wallace University’s Alternative Break service program and traveled to Chicago during Winter Break.
Mr. Childs, a Bellefontaine High School graduate majoring in political science and international studies with a focus on international affairs, took part in a variety of activities that focused on the trip theme of “Youth and Trauma.”
Students volunteered at three sites during the trip. They worked with vulnerable children who have a history of violence and abuse and also packed meals at Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit organization that provides meals for malnourished children in nearly 70 countries. At Cornerstone Community Outreach, students helped organize Christmas donations for two shelters.
