Cody J. Long, 35, of North Lewisburg, was charged Monday with menacing by stalking and violating a protection order. He also was served a warrant for failure to appear and issued traffic citations for no operator’s license and fictitious plates.
Around 10:30 p.m., Cynthia Outram, 604 Charles Ave., reported he had sent text messages to her in violation of a court order. The texts came from a number she did not recognize and she tried texting back and calling the number.
While officers were at her residence, Outram received a phone call from the cell phone that was the source of the text messages.
Outram was talking with Ashley Lewis in front of the officers when the distinct sound of a loud car exhaust could be heard on the phone and in the neighborhood of Outram’s residence.
Officers left the residence looking for a dark gray car which was spotted on Troy Road north of Myrtle Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 74.
Lewis was in the car with Long and acknowledged she called Outram after seeing the text messages and missed calls.
She was released from the scene.
Long was taken into custody and lodged in jail.
Man admits to theft
Jeffrey L. Kissling, 47, of 547 E. Columbus Ave., Apt. 4, was charged Monday with theft. He admitted giving away china dolls, perfume and costume jewelry belonging to his girlfriend, Jackie Mays, of the same address, while she was visiting her mother for four days.
Traffic stop results in weapons charges
Two people were charged Sunday with firearms offenses after a 2:10 a.m. traffic stop at Speedway, 329 S. Main St.
Christopher S. Kunkle, 31, of Springfield, and Brandi K. Swords, 31, of Springfield each was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle.
Edwin A. Ford, 44, of Waynesfield, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after admitting owning paraphernalia found in the back seat with him.
Kunkle also was issued traffic citations for no operator’s license, fictitious registration and driving under suspension.
An officer initiated the stop after a license plate check revealed the plate was assigned to a different vehicle. Two handguns, magazines and ammunition were found in the sport utility vehicle.
Kunkle and Swords were lodged in jail.
Brother arrested in attack
Timothy J. Tewksbury, 49, at large, was charged Friday with felony domestic violence and illegal use of drug paraphernalia.
Around 10:25 p.m., officers were called to 727 W. Patterson Ave. and spoke to Tewksbury’s brother, Joseph J. Lakotas. Lakotas said Tewksbury barged in and struck him in the face several times.
Officers noted Lakotas had fresh facial injuries.
Tewksbury was soon spotted walking in the area of Auburn Avenue and Detroit Street and taken into custody. A pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine was found in Tewksbury’s front pants pocket.
He was lodged in jail.
