An adult passenger and child passenger each were transported by Tri-Valley EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening on U.S. Route 33 during icy conditions.
Front seat passenger Deborah D. Ramsey, 47, of Brooksville, Fla., and the rear seat passenger was Autumn G. Wolfe, 6, each were transported to the hospital for treatment, with Ramsey reporting back pain and the child transported as a precautionary measure.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report they were passengers in a westbound pickup operated by Deborah A. Trost, 66, of St. Marys, about 7:45 p.m. just east of County Road 10.
Trost’s vehicle struck a patch of black ice while traveling in the left lane of U.S. 33 and slid into the right lane and struck a guardrail. The pickup came to a stop and the engine was turned off, and then the vehicle was then struck by a westbound pickup operated by Morris R. Chestnut, 69, of Marion, Ind.
Deputies said Chesnut’s vehicle struck the same patch of “Black Ice and went into a spin and struck the guard rail and continued spinning until coming to a stop in the median. While spinning, the Chesnut vehicle struck the first vehicle
Neither of the drivers reported any injuries.
The Trost vehicle was towed from the scene, and the second vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.
Deputies said no citations were issued to the drivers of either vehicle due to inclement weather being the cause of the accident.
