Officers of the Washington Township Police Department report that an adult and a child were transported from the scene of an Amish buggy and car crash Wednesday evening for treatment of serious injuries.
The operator of the buggy, Rudy Wagler, 20 of Lewistown, and his passenger, Alma Wagler, 13, each were transported to Mary Rutan Hospital and then were transferred to Lima Memorial Hospital. Officers said both of these occupants had been thrown from the buggy.
A second passenger in the buggy, Fannie Wagler, 6, and the operator of the car, Ashley Renee Morrison, 34, of DeGraff, did not report any injuries.
Officers report Morrison was operating a southbound car about 9:40 p.m. on State Route 235 near Township Road 215. She advised she did not see the Amish buggy, and struck the rear of the buggy.
The buggy was operated by Rudy Wagler, 20 of Lewistown along with passengers Alma Wagler 13 and Fannie Wagler 6 yeas old. .
Morrison was cited with failure to maintain assured distance ahead. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene. The Amish buggy also sustained heavy damage. The horse did not survive the accident, officers said.
