T-P Lanes house mark eclipsed by same team twice in 5-week span
Beating the 21-year women’s house series record at T-P Lanes came as a big surprise for the Quest Federal Credit Union team in its Wednesday Night Classic league.
The group of Angie Corwin, Megan Nicholl, Tammy Overholser, Hillary Miller and Tara Zedeker combined for a 3,121 series on Dec. 2, eclipsing the previous house record of 3,087 that was set in 1994 by the team of Shelly Chambers, Gina Rucker, Cheryl Light, Connie Powell and Jane Kline.
It was so much of a surprise that the new record holders were not aware of their feat until well after bowling was over that night.
“We didn’t even know until Connie Powell and Gina Rucker came up to us afterward and told us we beat their record,” said Nicholl. “We had do idea.”
The Quest team was not satisfied, though. Five weeks later, on Jan. 6, the team broke its own record with a series of 3,131.
This time, Tray Daniels took the place of Zedeker to help the group to another record night.
“We are a six-person team, so it was great that all six of us could be part of the record,” said Overholser. “All of us get along great, and it was fitting that all six of us were able to be part of the record.”
