Drivers Isaiah Baughman, 18, of Sidney, and James Newland, age and address unavailable, and a passenger Traci Hughes, 50, of Jackson Center, each were transported by Indian Lake EMS and Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched about 4:15 p.m. to an auto accident with injuries on State Route 274 just west of Township Road 61 in Washington Township.
The accident investigation revealed a westbound car operated by Nathan Dodge, age and address unavailable, was stopped in the roadway waiting to turn into a residential driveway causing other traffic to be stopped in the roadway.
A westbound car driven by Isaiah Baughman, 18, of Sidney, failed to see traffic stopped ahead of him. Baughman struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle operated by Newland. The SUV then struck the stopped Dodge vehicle.
Baughman will be cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead, officers said. Indian Joint Fire Department assisted at the scene.
