Benjamin Logan’s boys and Indian Lake’s girls both won Central Buckeye Conference Mad River championships this fall and those results were reflected in the all-league awards.
A total of 21 area runners earned CBC honors, including nine on the first team. The top eight runners at the league race earn firs-team honors, while the next eight receive second-team accolades. The next four finishers are named special mention. The top finisher in each division is named runner of the year.
Highlighting the awards were Ben Logan’s Tucker Munz who earned the Mad River division male runner of the year and led the Raiders to their second straight title.
Racing to Mad River division first-team spots for Ben Logan were Munz, Blake Rhoades and Tayte Williamson. Earning Kenton Trail first-team spots were Bellefontaine’s Connor Skidmore and Tony Stewart.
Making the Mad River second-team squad were the Raiders were Andrew Hughes and Trevor Penwell.
Finishing on the Kenton Trail second team were Bellefontaine’s Justin Carper, Patrick Donnelly and Gannon Purcell with Gavin Wilson earning special mention.
Indian Lake’s girls won the Mad River division title and had three first teamers with KaiLea Miller, Elayna Richardson and Ella Wagner. Ben Logan’s Dani Widmark also earned first-team honors.
The Lakers also secured four second-team spots with Hannah Metzger, Carlie Nickel, Chloe Sparks and Deborah Wells. Special mention went to Indian Lake’s Erika Wells and Ben Logan’s Mylee Boysel
Bellefontaine’s girls had four girls earn league honors in the Kenton Trail. Landing second-team spots were Sophie Adelsberger, Montanna Buck and Ella Reier, while special mention went to Aubrey Hudson.
Local boys receiving the sportsmanship award were Bellefontaine’s Justin Carper, Ben Logan’s Blake Rhoades and Indian Lake’s Tony Cummins.
Area girls taking home the sportsmanship award were Bellefontaine’s Hudson, Ben Logan’s Tori Miller and Indian Lake’s Rachel Wahl.
Jonathan Alder claimed the Kenton Trail championship in both the boys and girls races. The Kenton Trail male runner of the year was Springfield Shawnee’s Jordyn Dillavou, the Kenton Trail female runner of the year was Shawnee’s Audrey DeSantis and the Mad River female runner of the year was
Northwestern’s Madison Little.
Boys CBC awards
Filling out the rest of the Mad River boys first-team list were North Union’s Casey Clark and Jacob Willis, Urbana’s Braylon Daniels and Camden Weiss and Graham’s Cayden Bonham.
Adding to the second team were North Union’s Daniel Burggraf and Chris Isler, Graham’s Ashton Aldgredge, Donovan Holbrook and Aiden Oburn and Urbana’s Nolan Rickett.
The remaining special mention runners were North Union’s Casey Rensel, Urbana’s Jack Buckalew and Northwestern’s Sam Blankley and Michael Moerch.
Making up the rest of the Kenton Trail boys first team were Jonathan Alder’s Brady Corbitt, Coliyn McDaniel and Jonas Watkins, Shawnee’s Dillavou and Dylan O’Brien and Tecumseh’s Preston Jackson.
Others on the second-team squad were Jonathan Alder’s Sergey Dutt, Luke Goode and Matt Perkey, London’s Jimmy Brayshaw and Shawnee’s Noah Schafer.
The rest of the special mention runners were Jonathan Alder’s Will Jackson and Brady Tremayne and Shawnee’s Jonah Kiess.
Girls CBC awards
Rounding out the Mad River girls first team were Northwestern’s Little and Kayley Yontz, North Union’s Kendal Music and Graham’s Kelsey Demarco.
Filling up the second-team squad Northwestern’s Alyssa Christian and Madison Lyday, Urbana’s Kayla Booze and North Union’s Kaylee Smith.
Other special mention runners were Northwestern’s Natlie Boehmer and North Union’s Ashley Hayward.
Earning Kenton Trail first-team honors for the girls were Jonathan Alder’s Maddie Davis, Reggan Gray, Morgan Hicks, Evie McDaniel, Eliza Streit and Avery Wynk and Shawnee’s DeSantis and Abigail Klemmensen.
Others landing on the second team were Jonathan Alder’s Kate Curtiss and Emma Kennedy, Tecumseh’s Laine Adams, Shawnee’s Tessa Holcomb and London’s Alex Tewalt.
Filling out the special mention spots were Tecumseh’s Ellie Hoover and Lucinda Hughes and Shawnee’s Impreza Rogers.
