Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate non-injury crashes that occurred about four minutes apart Sunday morning during icy conditions along the State Route 117 bridge overpass for U.S. Route 33.
In the first crash at 6:28 a.m., Jodi L. McDonald, 55, of Belle Center, reportedly was operating a south- bound sport utility vehicle on S.R. 117 and upon entering the bridge, her vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck the bridge barrier and then returned to the roadway. Damage was light to her vehicle and she was wearing her seat belt.
In the second crash at 6:32 a.m., deputies report William D. McPheron, 26, of Dola, was operating a south-bound car on State Route 117 when he drove onto the ice-covered bridge and lost control, striking the bridge barrier on the left side of the road. Damage was light to the vehicle and the driver was wearing his seat belt.
No citations were issued the weather-related crashes.
Man arrested for disorderly conduct
David R. Cooper, 34, address unavailable, was charged with disorderly conduct and a probation violation related to an incident early Monday morning that began at a Kiowa Path residence, Lakeview.
Deputies were dispatched to the home about 12:50 a.m. on a report of Cooper causing a disturbance with his girlfriend. She told deputies that the pair had been in an argument, but that it had not gotten physical. She said she wanted him to leave the residence and not come back.
Cooper was visibly intoxicated, and he agreed to leave the home. Deputies provided him with a ride to his mother’s residence on Duff Road and he was advised to go to sleep and avoid further confrontations.
However, a short time later at 2:20 a.m., deputies were dispatched to his mother’s residence, with Cooper’s mother reporting that he was intoxicated and arguing with her. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
