After his performance in replacing an injured Chris Worley against Army, Tuf Borland has suddenly shaken up Ohio State’s plans at middle linebacker.
Borland, a red-shirt freshman from Illinois, was called on when Worley injured his foot in the first quarter of the Buckeyes’ 38-7 win over the Black Knights.
Borland responded with 12 tackles, 11 coming in the second half as the OSU defense tightened up against Army’s triple option. He was named the team’s defensive player of the week.
“I kind of knew I was going to be rotating in,” Borland told reporters after the game. “But I didn’t know my role was going to be to that extent. We pride ourselves on being ready when our numbers are called. I just got the opportunity tonight. I’m just thankful.”
