After a second look, Ohio State’s performance against Alabama-Birmingham was not as bad as head coach Urban Meyer originally thought it was.
During his weekly press conference Monday, Meyer said he had a highlight reel put together of four drives in Saturday’s 29-15 win.
“I just put together a reel of four drives and it was about as well done as we played all year,” said Meyer.
Although he was not satisfied by the performance as a whole, the first-year OSU coach was encouraged by what he saw in spurts.
“I did that more for me, I think,” he said of the highlight film. “I have to eat lunch and I wasn’t about to eat lunch after what I saw. I said put together two, three, four good drives for me. One thing about this team, when it’s time to go win a game, to date they’ve gone and won a game. But we are what we are right now, and that’s just a workman like team that has to get better.”
The Buckeyes open Big 10 play Saturday at Michigan State after an up-and-down non-conference portion of the schedule.
