COLUMBUS — Ohio State safety Tyvis Powell announced this morning that he will bypass his final year of eligibility.
Powell is the fifth Buckeyes underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft, following quarterback Cardale Jones, running back Ezekiel Elliott, defensive end Joey Bosa, and linebacker Darron Lee.
A two-year starter, the redshirt junior finished his Ohio State career with 197 tackles and eight interceptions. He is projected as a possible late-round draft selection.
"Over these few seasons I have accomplished almost every one of my dreams that I set out for back when committed, including being a graduate of The Ohio State University," Powell wrote on Twitter. "Keep me in your prayers as I continue to see what God has in store for me on this journey. Always and forever Go Bucks."
