Cavaliers schedule features 29 nationally televised games

ClevelandCavaliers

With LeBron James back in town and the team expected to contend for an NBA title, the Cavaliers will once again be national media darlings in 2014-15.

Cleveland will have 29 games telecast nationally — five on ABC, 10 on TNT, 10 on ESPN and four on NBA TV — the league announced Wednesday. Eleven games will be aired nationally on ESPN Radio.

The Cavs will open the season Oct. 30 at Quicken Loans Arena against Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks.

The 8 p.m. game will be televised by TNT, and the Knicks will have hosted Chicago the previous night.

It will be the sixth straight year Cleveland has opened the season at home.

James’ first game against his former Miami team will be a nationally televised 5 p.m. road game on Christmas Day, which will mark the 11th time the Cavs have played on the holiday.

The Cavs host the Heat on Feb. 11 and April 2 and play their other game in Miami on March 16.

Cleveland will also play on Easter, as it hosts Chicago at 3:30 p.m. on April 5, and the night of Martin Luther King Day, when it will also host the Bulls, this time at 8 p.m. on Jan. 19.

The defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs will make their lone visit to The Q on Nov. 19, with Houston visiting Jan. 7, Oklahoma City coming to town Jan. 25 and Portland coming in Jan. 28. The Cavs will host the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb. 5 and Golden State on Jan. 26.

Cleveland will play all Eastern Conference opponents four times with the exception of Charlotte (two home, one road), New York (one home, two road), Orlando (one home, two road) and Philadelphia (two home, one road).
