Ohio hunting season opens for rabbits, pheasants

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio hunters can set their eyes on ring-necked pheasants, cottontail rabbits and bobwhite quail as the state's small game hunting season gets underway Friday.

The hunting is permitted from sunrise to sunset, with daily bag limits of four rabbits, four quail and two male pheasants.

Pheasant hunting is open until Jan. 5, except during the deer gun hunting season from Dec. 2-8. The state's wildlife division will release pheasants in certain areas on Nov. 9 and the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day.

Quail season lasts until Dec. 1. Cottontail rabbit hunting continues until the end of February.
