A bowl game is not in the Buckeyes’ future this season, but this year’s team does not seem to be lacking motivation.
COLUMBUS — The high-powered offense Ohio State fans expected in Urban Meyer’s debut was slow in showing up here Saturday.
The ultimate example of a coach who is never satisfied, Urban Meyer did not speak with a lot of warm and fuzzies Monday at his weekly press conference, despite his team’s 56-10 season-opening win over Miami.
There was nothing earth shattering coming out of Urban Meyer's weekly press conference Monday, but there were a few newsworthy items. Here are some highlights:
* Bradley Roby was named the defensive player of the week and Braxton Miller was the offensive player of the week for the Miami game. Adam Griffin, son of Archie, was the special teams player of the week. Griffin made his OSU debut Saturday.
* Meyer said sophomore DL Michael Bennett reinjured his groin in warmups Saturday. His status has not been revealed.
* Meyer called Central Florida a "whole new animal." He seemed very impressed with the Knights' athleticism.
* Injured RB Jordan Hall will practice this week but it is unlikely he will play.
For more from Meyer, see my story in Tuesday's paper.
