COLUMBUS — Fueled by an impressive 63-38 win over Nebraska on Saturday, Ohio State has shot up to eighth in the Associated Press top 25 poll.

A lot of coaches do not pay much attention to polls. Urban Meyer is not one of them.
When asked Monday if he was aware of where his team stood in the AP poll, he answered with an emphatic yes.
“Oh, yeah. We’re not shy,” he said. “We have state of the union every week with the players and they know. We’re not hiding it. That’s your top 10 football team, and the stakes are real high.”
Without a Big 10 championship or bowl berth to play for, the Buckeyes are looking for any type of motivation they can find.
“The thing is, they’re going to talk about (the rankings) when they go home, when they walk to class,” said Meyer. “They’re going to talk about it. Why not do it here? We don’t talk about it in September, but once (the season) gets going, absolutely we talk about it.”
