Chiefs’ Lyburtus headed back to state meet in long jump

After placing fifth at the state meet in the long jump last season, Bellefontaine senior Dezmin Lyburtus will get another chance to reach the Division I podium in Columbus.

Lyburtus placed fourth in the long jump during Wednesday’s regional meet at Wayne High School with a leap of 22-9, a season best.

“I feel like it’s a great accomplishment for me to be able to go back-to-back years in the long jump,” said Lyburtus.

“Dez rose to the occasion to perform at a high level when little or no margin of error existed,” said BHS head coach Ben Davis.
