A strong work ethic has propelled Daniel McPherson to success in the classroom and in athletics. It has also opened up the opportunity for the Benjamin Logan senior to compete as a distance runner at the next level.
McPherson recently signed with Capital University, a NCAA Division III program in Columbus, where he will compete in cross country and track and field.
“I think Capital is perfect for Daniel,” said Ben Logan track and cross country coach Kevin Butler. “Most importantly, he’s going to get a great education. It’s also going to provide him an opportunity to continue competing at a level I think he is capable of having success at over the course of his college career.”
McPherson was one of the top runners for the Ben Logan boys cross country team and helped lead the Raiders to a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division championship. He is also one of the Raiders’ top distance runners on the track and field team.
A new challenge awaits McPherson as he prepares to take on collegiate running with the Crusaders in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
“My advice to Daniel would be to go in with a positive attitude and have the willingness to work,” said Butler. “He will have to continue trust the process his coaches lay out for him.
