A hard worker in the classroom and in the athletic arena, Cole Mefford afforded himself numerous opportunities after high school.
The Indian Lake senior was an exceptional standout on the football and wrestling teams. He recently decided to further his wrestling career by signing with Ohio Northern University.
With plenty of options, Mefford had not necessarily planned to wrestle in college, but his recent success this winter opened up some new opportunities for the Laker standout.
“The opportunity arose for me to wrestle in college and I took it,” said Mefford. “I thought it was a good opportunity and I’m excited to be wrestling at the next level.”
“I’m excited for Cole to wrestle in college,” said IL head coach Ryan Dickson. “He has all the tools to be a success at ONU. He is a hard worker and will do well for himself. It’s pretty special to continue the legacy of getting Lakers to compete at the next level.”
