Bellefontaine’s girls soccer program will have a new leader in charge this fall.
Kate Smith, who served as an assistant coach last season, has been elevated to the top spot after Matt Price stepped down after six seasons as the head coach.
“I am very excited about leading the program,” said Smith, who also teaches at BHS. “This is one of those jobs that when it comes open, you jump at it. I really enjoyed working with the girls this past season and I see many of them in the classroom as well. I would not have applied for the job if I didn’t enjoy my time last season.”
Price compiled a record of 41-53-10 during his time at the helm.
“Just with my age, it has become more difficult to give 100 percent day in and day out,” said Price. “I would have a hard time asking the girls to give me everything they have when I wasn’t able to do the same.”
