HOME PAGE SLIDE SHOW PHOTO: West Liberty-Salem’s James Loffing cuts down the net after the Tigers won a share of the Ohio Heritage Conference North division championship Friday.
The Tigers set the tone early by getting a big lead and rolled to a 72-49 victory over the visiting Indians in the final game of the regular season.
WL-Salem shared the OHC North title with West Jefferson.
Both teams finished with 12-4 league records.
The Tigers were without head coach Darrin Leichty, who was diagnosed with pneumonia earlier on Friday. That left the coaching duties to assistant Joe Taylor.
“Our coaching staff wasn’t sure how things were going to go this year,” said Taylor. “We were 5-5 after 10 games. Our seven seniors pulled us together and made it happen. We’re all real proud of them and this entire team.”
