Warriors hold off Lakers

Indian Lake’s girls basketball team could not find a spark in the first half Wednesday as visiting Northwestern gradually seized control of the game.

The Warriors weathered a late rally by the Lakers in the fourth quarter, but ultimately held on for a 28-23 Central Buckeye Conference victory.

The loss drops the Lakers to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the CBC as the Warriors move to 2-3, 1-1.

“We were doomed by another slow start and too many missed opportunities,” said IL head coach Nathaniel Tennant. “After being down in the third quarter, we cut it to two points with just over two minutes to go. They made their free throws in the fourth quarter, though, and we didn’t.”
