Shekinah Christian edges Triad 56-52

Shekinah Christian’s girls basketball team pulled out a 56-52 win in the final minutes against visiting Triad on Tuesday during a non-league contest.

The Cardinals begin the season at 0-1 and the Flames improve to 2-1.

“I feel very badly for the girls tonight for the loss because we played hard enough and well enough to win,” said Triad head coach Jeff Merklin. “Shekinah is a good fundamental and shooting basketball team and they made the key plays at the end of the game. Nevertheless, this is the kind of effort and performance we need at Triad to get the girls program back to where it was a few years ago.”

Shekinah Christian grabbed a 17-10 lead after the first quarter and went on a 14-8 run in the second quarter. That put the Falmes out to a 31-18 halftime advantage.
