Lima Shawnee’s late goal cuts down Lady Chiefs

 

Lima Shawnee scored a late goal to escape with a 2-1 win over host Bellefontaine in a non-league girls soccer game Saturday at AcuSport Stadium.

The Chieftains are now 3-3-1 on the season.

 

“We gambled with 10 minutes left to get the win and knew we were a little exposed on defense,” said BHS head coach Matt Price. “We had a number of chances early in the game and missed out. Shawnee made a few adjustments at half and we just didn’t get the same looks in the second half.”

Lima Shawnee scored first in the opening half off a corner kick. That put the Indians up 1-0 early in the game. Bellefontaine was able to knot the score 1-1 off a corner kick from Daja Wilson.
