State-ranked Versailles was simply too much for a young Triad squad as the Tigers rolled to an 86-16 win Thursday in a Division III girls sectional basketball opener at Franklin-Monroe High School.
The second-seeded Tigers, who are ranked sixth in the state poll, improve to 20-3 and face Northridge in the sectional semifinal on Tuesday.
The Cardinals finish their season with a 4-19 mark.
“That’s one of the top teams in Division III,” said Triad head coach Jeff Merklin. “I told our girls to forget the score, but not the game. Learn from what they just played against how they are good, why they are good and attack this offseason.”
