BHS boys, BL girls claim titles in Holiday Classic

Bellefontaine’s boys and Benjamin Logan girls each grabbed first-place finishes to highlight the Holiday Baker Classic tournament at T-P Lanes on Friday.

The Chieftains won the boys 11-team tournament, while the Raiders topped the girls six-team field.

“The tournament was a great success and we want to thank all the schools that participated and the spectators for their support,” said BHS bowling coach Jane Kline. “The kids had a great time and we hope to have a bigger and better tournament next year.”

After the first 10 baker games for the boys, Ft. Loramie A team led with a total of 1,845, Ben Logan had 1,837, Lima Shawnee had 1,771, Bellefontaine A had 1,718, Indian Lake A tallied 1,682, Indian Lake B had 1,500, Bellefontaine B recorded 1,415 and Riverside had 1,297.

In the next round of matches, Ft. Loramie defeated Riverside, Bellefontaine A knocked off Indian Lake A, Lima Shawnee beat Indian Lake B and Ben Logan beat Bellefontaine B.

Bellefontaine’s A team moved on to defeat Ft. Loramie, while Lima Shawnee advanced after defeating Ben Logan.

In the final match, Bellefontaine’s boys bowled Lima Shawnee in a best 2 out of 3 matchup. The Chieftains won the first game 149-144 and took the second game 145-142 to win the boys championship.

The girls tournament saw Bellefontaine A roll 1,704, Ben Logan 1,535, Lima Shawnee 1,408, Bellefontaine B 1,339, Indian Lake 1,300 and Riverside 1,135.
