Player of the year Neil Markin, WL-Salem A junior forward, Markin powered the West Liberty-Salem boys soccer team to a 10-6-2 overall record and a second-place finish in the Ohio Heritage Conference this fall. He scored a team-high 20 goals and was second on the team with eight assists. Markin was selected to the all-Ohio Heritage Conference first team for the second year in a row. He had the lone goal in the Tigers’ 1-0 victory over Springfield Catholic Central, which was the first win over the Irish in program history. (EXAMINER FILE PHOTO)
