Bellefontaine’s Durflinger wins compact feature at Shady Bowl
05/12/08 Bellefontaine’s Justin Durflinger provided a local highlight at Shady Bowl Speedway on Saturday by winning the compact feature. Following Durflinger in the top-five in the compact main were West Liberty-Salem’s Mark Parker, Lou Ebright, David Yoder and Brian Beach. The American Modified Series saw Scott Coe and Tim Ice making up the front row for the 50-lapper. Coe jumped out to an early lead, but Greg Stapleton caught Coe with five laps to go. Coe got caught down low behind a lapped car, with Stapleton making the pass to pick up the $2,500 first-place prize. Coe had to settle for second spot, with two-time AMS champ Bud Perry third, defending AMS champ Mike Carroll fourth and Poole fifth. The Ohio Valley Dwarf Car Association 20-lap feature was once again dominated by Brandon Bayse. Bill Hostetler, Bob Bayse, Cory Barcus and Max Evans rounded out the top five. The 20-lap sport stock feature saw a familiar face in victory lane as Bud Perry made his street stock debut a good one. He set the fast time in qualifying and then won the feature. Greg Sparks made his 2008 debut with a secondplace finish, while Aaron Pippin, Mark Heath and Larry Adams rounded out the top five. In Pro-4 racing, Houston’s Steve Clarkson won his third straight feature. Randy Human was second, with Dave Sage third, Kenny Snyder fourth and Josh Sage fifth. Racing resumes Saturday as the modifieds, late models, sport stocks, compacts, dwarfs and the Detroit Iron cars take to the local track. Racing begins at 7 p.m.
