BHS softball team topples Cougars

Kenton Ridge is having all kinds of problems against Logan County softball teams.

After falling to Indian Lake last week, the state-ranked Cougars were defeated 3-2 by visiting Bellefontaine on Monday in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game.

The Chiefs improve to 14-7 overall and 8-5 in the CBC, while Kenton Ridge drops to 14-6, 9-4.

“This is a big win and we are excited about it,” said Bellefontaine head coach Jeremiah Vigansky. “Hopefully, the girls will feed off of it because we still have a tough stretch of games coming up.”

The game was tied 2-2 after five innings. Bellefontaine then scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning.

“We were able to generate some runs off of errors and miscues by Kenton Ridge, but we also were able to come up with some key hits,” said Vigansky.

Kara Morrison had a stellar all-around game to spark Bellefontaine. Morrison went the distance in the pitching circle to get the win. She struck out three, walked two and scattered six hits. At the plate, she was 2-3 and scored twice.

Tiffany LeVan had two hits and two RBI and Heather Alinson contributed a double for the Chieftain offense.

The two teams battle again today at Bellefontaine.
