Local wrestlers earn GMVWA honors

A total of 18 area wrestlers earned honors on the recently released Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association wrestling team. The GMVWA consists of southwest Ohio schools and is voted on by coaches prior to the sectional tournament.

Benjamin Logan’s Zach Creamer (103) and Hunter Pool (160) and Indian Lake’s Matt Marshall (189) earned second-team selections to headline area grapplers in Division II.

Honorable mention picks were earned by Indian Lake’s Nate Harmon (135), Kevin Christman (145) and Thomas Taylor (215) and Ben Logan’s Luke Smith (119).

Receiving special mention selections were Indian Lake’s Chris Schulz (112), Adam Witt (125), Cody Ray (152), Dane Cope (160) and Arron Witt (171).

For Ben Logan, Jordan Penhorwood (140), Skylar Wohlgamuth (145), Aaron Blakely (152), Payton Rose (215) and Alex Jackson (285) also earned special mention honors.

In Division III, West Liberty-Salem’s Travis Wooten (119), Curt Levy (145) and Peter Lewis (160) received special mention honors.

Graham claimed 10 of the 14 first-team selections and had three second-team selections.
