Triad’s Millice named honorable mention all-Ohio
Examiner Sports Editor 03/12/08 Jordan Millice helped spark a big turnaround in the Triad boys basketball program during his career. He was rewarded for his efforts Tuesday with a major honor. Millice, who led the Cardinals to an Ohio Heritage Conference title this winter, was named as an honorable mention selection on the Division IV all-Ohio team. A 6-2 senior guard, Millice averaged 20 points per game for the Cardinals. Millice drilled 26 three-pointers on the season. He had a 33-point game and he scored 28 in another contest. “Jordan was really consistent throughout the season,” said Triad head coach John Millice, who is Jordan’s uncle. “I thought he stepped his game up especially during the second half of the season. He helped us in every category.” The Cardinals improved greatly as Millice made his way through the program. This season, Triad went 18-4 overall and 13-1 in the OHC. “I think this award shows how the program has improved,” said John Millice. “Jordan would be the first to say that he would not have achieved this without his teammates.” Millice previously earned first-team OHC and second-team alldistrict honors. The coach said his nephew is currently mulling his college options. Jordan is also a standout golfer and is considering playing both sports in college. The Division IV all-state team was headlined by player of the year Brian Hecker of Worthington Christian. The coaches of the year were Malvern’s Dennis Tucci, Cincinnati Seven Hills’ Willie Hill and New Knoxville’s Dan Hegemier. Joining Hecker on the first team were Ironton St. Joseph’s Chad Harvey, Malvern’s Zak Kapron, Seven Hills’ Drew Kohn, Cleveland Heights Lutheran East’s William Felder, Ada’s Zac Dysert and Windham’s Phil Workman.
