BHS boys soccer team can’t stay with Wapak

Bellefontaine’s boys soccer team fell into a big early hole and could not recover en route to a 7-1 loss to host Wapakoneta in non-league action Thursday.

The Chiefs are now 0-2-1 on the season.

Wapakoneta jumped out to a 6-1 lead at halftime.

Bellefontaine held the hosts to just one goal in the second half, resulting in a positive note head coach Steve Henry believes his team can build on.

“We walked right into a trap,” said Bellefontaine head coach Steve Henry. “This Wapak team has 12 seniors and this was their first game of the season. But we’re not looking for excuses. During the first 20 minutes of the game our defense and possession were atrocious.
