Chieftain girls can’t find net in loss to Piqua

Piqua’s girls soccer team grabbed a 3-0 win over host Bellefontaine in a non-league contest Monday.

The Indians scored one goal in the first half for a 1-0 lead at halftime. Piqua added to its lead in the second half with two late goals for an eventual 3-0 victory.

“This was a good test for us early in the season,” said BHS head coach Matt Price. “The overall effort was good; we just didn’t finish our opportunities on offense. 

“Defensively, we lost our organization a few times and they took advantage. We are looking for a leader to emerge on defense to keep the unit organized.”

In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine won 2-0.

Bellefontaine hosts Indian Lake on Wednesday for a local Central Buckeye Conference game.
