“This is always a tough game for us,” said BHS head coach Steve Henry. “It is always our first and it’s always one of our toughest. But we can use this as a positive to show us where we need to improve heading into league play and against our local rivals.

“Mr. (Matt) Comstock our athletic director frontloaded a lot of our non-league games in August, which is great for our team. We have several opportunities to improve before the heart of our schedule hits.”

The Monarchs built a 6-1 lead at halftime. The Chiefs’ Matt Voss was able to score the lone goal for BHS before the break with an assist from Aaron Wisner.

Bellefontaine was unable to slow down Marysville in the second half as the Monarchs added three more goals to wrap up the win.

Marysville won the junior varsity game 10-0.

The Chieftains travel to New Knoxville today for another non-league contest.
