Karlie Wilbur, a senior softball player at West Liberty-Salem, has been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South in South Carolina.
The showcase takes place Aug. 30-31 at Winthrop University. This event is part of the Queen of Diamonds Showcase series, which are the largest fastpitch softball showcases of their kind in the country.
Players from 21 states and two Canadian provinces will take part in the showcase. In order to be selected, athletes must go through an application process. Players are selected based on criteria ranging from ability, potential, academics, coaches’ requests and referrals.
Wilbur will play center field for her Queen of Diamonds team. She is also a member of the Cinci Static North college exposure team. She played multiple positions including first base and catcher for the Tigers during the spring season.
She has attended the QDSN event at Kent the past two years and has earned a game MVP award as well as being invited to be on the World Cup team in the Netherlands. Her goal is to play softball at the collegiate level after high school.
