Bellefontaine girls, Tavenner sparkle in championship meet

The girls portion of the Bellefontaine summer swim team had a standout performance at its recent championship meet.

Bellefontaine was joined in the meet by Minster, Versailles, Tipp Monroe, Botkins and Troy.

The Bellefontaine girls took second behind Minster. Bellefontaine’s boys were sixth. Overall, the Bellefontaine squad placed fourth.

The girls team combined for six record-breaking efforts during the meet. Emily Fulmer set both a team record and a championship record in the 100 freestyle, Amy Fulmer set a championship record in the 50 backstroke, the 13-14 200 medley relay team of Amy Fulmer, Macy Arn, Emily Fulmer and Shelby Starkey set a championship record, the same group set a championship and team record in the 13-14 200 freestyle relay, Arn set a team record in the 100 individual medley and the 15-18 medley relay team of Molly Schulz, Sarah Mally, Shelbi Moore and Camille Watson set a team record.

On the boys side, Skyler Tavenner also had a good day by setting a team record in the 50 backstroke.

For the girls team in the open 100 freestyle, Emily Fulmer placed first.
