Coreen Crosby, who will be a sophomore at Benjamin Logan this fall, finished third in the heptathlon competition last week at the Junior Olympic Regional Meet in Charleston, W. Va.
Athletes from four states were represented, with the top two athletes in each event earning spots in the national meet in Houston.
Crosby just missed a national berth by taking third with 3,320 points. She increased her total of 3,019 points at the Ohio meet.
The heptathlon is a two-day, seven-event competition. Crosby competed in the 100 hurdles (17.93), shot put (28-10 1/4), high jump (4-7) and 200 (29.53) on the first day and the long jump (13-9), javelin throw (92-10), and the 800 (2:42.47) on the second day.
