Logan Holt was successful in defending his Liberty Hills Golf Club tournament championship over the weekend.
Holt again hoisted the winner’s trophy after carding a two-day total of 138.
A member of the Butler University men’s golf team, Holt grabbed a huge lead going into the final round with a 63 on Saturday. That round included a hole-in-one on the seventh hole.
He followed with a 75 on Sunday. Although it was 12 shots below his first-round score, it was still enough to win the tournament by five shots over Nick Sims and Nick Sieg, who each shot 143s. Sims, a standout golfer at West Liberty-Salem, took second in a one-hole playoff with Sieg.
Blaine Ricketts was fourth in Championship Flight with a 145, Ken Day was fifth with 146, Bud Eichholtz took seventh with a 147, Jordan Sosby and Rob Gross shared eighth with 149s and Bryan Effingham and Grant Ricketts tied for 10th with 150s. Gross was the low net winner.
Dave Allison won Flight I with a 159, with Keith LeVan in second with 161 and Gary Kennedy third with 162. Kennedy also claimed the net championship for the flight.
Tom Cooksey was the winner for Flight II with a 159. Jeff Wolford was second and also took the low net honor, while Hunter Karg finished third with a 162.
