TIFFIN — Heidelberg University Director of Athletics Matt Palm announced on Tuesday that Joe Yoder has been named interim head coach for the men’s and women’s track and field teams for the 2014-15 academic year.
Yoder, a native of West Liberty, recently completed his master’s degree in education at Heidelberg while serving as a graduate assistant for the track and field program. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from the university in 2012.
As a scholar-athlete, Yoder earned NCAA All-American status four times and claimed eight Ohio Athletic Conference titles.
Yoder, a Landess Scholar Athlete award winner, was a member of the 2010 men’s outdoor team which won the OAC championship. He still holds three individual records and one relay record for the Student Princes.
“It’s a great honor to take over a program with such a rich tradition,” said Yoder. “I look forward to enhancing the development of our student-athletes in the classroom and on the track.”
