Westfall doubles up at Waynesfield Raceway Park

Matt Westfall highlighted racing action at Waynesfield Raceway Park last weekend by claiming two feature wins.

He won the non-wing sprints feature and followed up by claiming the top spot in the modified feature.

Westfall took to the track first for the non-wing sprints and the 25-lap A-main. Westfall came roaring back after a yellow flag and moved up six spots to second place. He then took over the lead with 12 laps to go and earned the eventual win. Todd Keen had to settle for second, Cooper Clouse was third, Jimmy Snead was fourth and Luke Hall was fifth.

The non-wing sprints B-main saw Cooper Clouse come away with the win.

Westfall’s second victory of the night came on the last race of the night in the modified 20-lap feature. He took an early lead and never looked back on his way to earning the win. Brent Hole claimed the runner-up spot, Tim Cornett was third, Jim Post was fourth and Brandon Vaughan was fifth. Zach Shroeder picked up the hard charger award, advancing fourteen spots to finish just outside the top five in sixth.

In the compacts feature, David Yoder held off Harvey Yoder for the win. Jordan Iiams claimed the third spot, with Lucas Fuller in fourth and Matt McKinnon in fifth. Nick Glasgow advanced eight spots to earn the hard charger award.

The trucks feature saw Chris Hicks battle past the field after a restart and claim the victory. Mike Sawmiller made a late rally and took the runner-up spot as well as the hard charger award. Bill Keeler finished in third, Roy Miller recovered from an early wreck to take fourth and Curtis Rayle was fifth.

Rod Henning highlighted the mini-sprints feature by taking the checkered flag. He took advantage of a restart to take over the lead and he never let up. Henning also received the hard charger award for advancing five spots during the race. Brad Racer finished in second, Chris Bounds came in third, Gary Campbell was fourth and Gunnar Lucius was fifth.

Racing returns to Waynesfield Raceway Park on Saturday with another full program of racing including the non-wing sprints, modifieds, mini-sprints, tough trucks and compacts. In addition, it will be meet the drivers night. All fans in attendance will have the opportunity to meet and greet the drivers and get autographs.
