As a young girl, Christyn Wietholter saw a college softball game on television. She was immediately hooked on the sport.
Wietholter went on to become a talented prep player at Riverside and never lost her desire to play at the collegiate level. She recently accomplished that goal by accepting an offer to play at Adrian College in Michigan.
“I went on a visit there and I met their coach,” said Wietholter. “I really clicked with her and really liked their facilities. I also loved how small it is.”
Wietholter combined with fellow senior Jessica Davis to form a strong pitching duo for the Pirates this spring. Wietholter went 7-4 with a 2.55 ERA. She had 78 strikeouts in 71 innings of work.
As a junior, Wietholter went 10-5 with a 2.85 ERA.
“Christyn will bring a lot of experience with her when she heads to Adrian College,” said Riverside head coach Andy Phelps. “She has been playing competitive softball for many years and she understands the game very well.”
